What this covers

This policy explains what data Train for the Job collects when you use the site, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. It applies to trainforthejob.com and the account, assessment, and personality-test features on it.

What we collect

Account data. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password, handled by our authentication provider, Supabase.

Assessment and personality-test activity. Your answers, scores, timing, and per-category performance for cognitive assessments, and your responses and computed trait scores for the personality test, are stored against your account so your progress and history are available to you.

Subscription data. If you subscribe to One Access, payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We never receive or store your card details — we store only your Stripe customer ID, subscription ID, and subscription status, so we can determine what you have access to.

Usage events. We log basic product events (for example, starting or completing an assessment, a subscription starting) to operate and improve the product, and to diagnose problems.

Reported issues. If you flag a question as unclear or incorrect, we store that report, the question it relates to, and your account so we can review it.

Cookies and similar technology

We use one essential cookie set by our authentication provider to keep you signed in. It is required for the site to function and is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

We use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to understand traffic and page performance in aggregate. These tools are designed not to use tracking cookies and do not collect information that identifies you individually.

We use Google AdSense to show ads on our guide articles — not on the assessment or personality-test tools. AdSense uses cookies to personalize ads and measure how they perform. If you are visiting from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, a consent banner asks for your permission before any advertising cookie is set; you can accept, decline, or change your choice at any time from that banner. You can also review or opt out of personalized advertising generally at Google's Ad Settings.

Who we share data with

We share data only with the service providers that operate the product on our behalf:

  • Supabase — database hosting and authentication
  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing
  • Vercel — application hosting, analytics, and performance monitoring

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed from our active systems, aside from records we are legally required to retain (for example, transaction records for tax purposes).

Your rights

You can access, correct, or request deletion of your data at any time. To do so, or with any privacy question, contact us at privacy@trainforthejob.com. If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children

Train for the Job is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product changes. We will update the date at the top of this page when we do, and for material changes we will make that clear on the site.
